Amnesty purports to be "deeply concerned about the escalation of human rights abuses following the series of Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip that began on December 27th," but it fails to mention nearly all of them...Other than a pro forma reference to Hamas' indiscriminate rocket attacks, Amnesty's letter mentions none of these facts, nor any of the other human rights abuses Hamas has inflicted upon the Palestinian population under its control in Gaza, such as restrictions on religious practice, speech and due process.
Instead, Amnesty bristles at imaginary Israeli wrongdoing. Amnesty writes that "aid agencies and residents of Gaza have long ago run out of provision reserves due to the Israeli blockade" just two days after the UN's World Food Program informed the Israel Defense Forces that it would not be resuming shipment of food commodities to Gaza through Israeli crossings because WFP warehouses were already at full capacity...

Whatever one thinks of this issue, ther are some questions to consider...
Is Israel prepared for the aftermath of what's happening now where they are at and in the wider region, especially with the unintended consequences?
As Karl von Clauswitz stated: "Do not take the first step without considering the last"
Also, are they prepared to go by the so-called "pottery barn" rule: "you break it, you own it", because no matter what happens(especially if the IDF is going to be there in the long term), they are going to own it...

Well, up until now, the international community has been telling Israel that they are responsible for feeding, providing commerce, electricity and gas to Gaza, while the rockets were flying into Israel. At least now maybe the second part will stop.
At least now maybe the second part will stop.
I'm not so sure of that, especially after what happened at the U.N. school yesterday...
especially after what happened at the U.N. school yesterday
You mean when Hamas was using the school as cover for firing on Israeli soldiers, and when Israel fired back, the booby traps and explosives that Hamas placed in the school went off, killing lots of civilians? Using civilians as (ineffective) shields has been their strategy since day 1. I don't see why that would change anything.
Anyways, the point is for Israel to dismember Hamas, not to convince them to stop.
