Our Neighbor and Why We Have to Kill Him

Our neighbor lives in the house in which our grandfather used to live. He claims he bought the first part of the house from a Turki, and later the second part from a British bank, but that doesn't make the sale any less illegal: my family lived in that house for hundreds of years and we don't accept the documents of sale. Now he's living there. He is the son of monkeys and pigs.

The problem is that he's not just brazen, he's also strong, although he is a tiny guy.

The whole neighborhood hates him. He's a thief and possessed by the devil. But he seems to be able to beat everyone. We tried to force him out of the house together, but it didn't work. He has bulletproof windows, and the roof is made of inflammable material.

All we think about is him. Our own home is in ruins because all our efforts, all our money and ideas and energy are devoted solely to destroying our neighbor's house. We're utterly convinced that we will be perfectly happy just as soon as we've killed him and his house is a heap of smoking rubble. We live for one thing only: our neighbor's demise. It's a noble ambition for which we're all willing to die.

I thought it was showing the foolishness of both sides, I must say.  A great piece.

Hmm. Perhaps a converse view would be good.

    Our Other Neighbor

Our other neighbor lives in a hovel. She is a crafty, conniving woman who lives only by stealing from our garbage. She wallows in poverty and ignorance, but that is not our concern. Her sons are starving and desperate. They throw rocks at our windows, begging for our aid. We have made bullet proof windows. We killed her husband and grandchildren so that she would make her sons stop throwing rocks at our windows. They have not stopped. They are the sons of monkeys and pigs.

The problem is that these naughty, starving children are not just brazen, they are also fertile, although they are ignorant and poor.

The whole neighbourhood hates them. They are murderers and fanatics. But no matter how many we kill, they keep breeding more. We tried to demolish their hovel with a bulldozer, but they just built a new one. And we are kept awake night and day by all the rocks our neighbor's children throw at us.

All we think about is her. Our own home is filled with anxiety and noise because all our efforts, all our money and ideas and energy are devoted solely to surviving the desperate attacks of our neighbor's children. We're utterly convinced that we will be perfectly happy just as soon as our neighbor and her pestilential starving children magically vanish.

But lately we have discovered that our neighbor's neighbors are supplying these starving children with food scraps and rocks. We have realized that our neighbor's neighbors, and their neighbors too, are all arrayed against us. None of them will be happy until they break into our house and murder us all.

We must murder our neighbor's neighbors first. That will stop the supply of food and rocks to our neighbor. And then we will all be happy and work hard, as we always have done, despite the fact that everyone in the world does not understand that the problem has nothing to do with us, and is all our neighbor's fault.

Peter Merel: Your idea of a converse analogy is always a good one for things like this. Unfortunately, your premise is completely wrong in my opinion.

    1. You depict all violence of the Palestinians towards Israel as being based on Israel intentionally starving them. Being that this violence goes back to way before the State of Israel was created, and also includes Wars started by all of the neighboring Arab countries whose goal was to destroy the new Jewish State, I think that this is a pretty weak argument.
    2. Your claim that Israel is intentionally starving Gaza seems strange when you consider that while the last war was going on, Israel allowed 1500 trucks carrying 37,000 tons of food and supplies into Gaza (too bad Hamas didn't allow them all to get to the people who needed the supplies).
    3. You portray Jews and Israelis as hating the Arabs to the same degree that Hamas teaches their children to hate Jews. This is simply wrong. 100% incorrect. I live in Israel. I see how the residents of Gaza are portrayed in the news. You are just wrong.

Oh and the "sons of monkeys and pigs" thing is based on the type of stuff that Hamas teaches their children about Jews. If you want to reuse the terms of

    @Yaakov,

    1. What we do today is what determines what happens tomorrow. If Palestinians are blockaded and starving, what do you think they will do? Just sit there and say, "hey, those Israelis sure had it tough a couple generations ago, so we don't mind our children going hungry now ..."? I mean, sure, your people have endured thousands of years of bloody battlefields. Are you saying you can't think of anything you could do better than continue the slaughter today?
    2. Hamas are a bunch of bloody-minded bastards. Didn't you know that? Is there some reason Israelis could not ensure food would be delivered to the hungry? If Hamas stopped food deliveries to your own children, would you just stand around and say, "hey, what a shame, not our fault"?
    3. I portray Israelis, not as hating, but as unfeeling. You don't plan for the future of the Palestinians. You just blame them for not figuring out that what they're doing is evil and stupid. And for reacting to the violence that you inflict upon them with violence of their own. I don't think and I don't for a moment mean to suggest that Israelis are any less human, compassionate, or deserving of consideration than Palestinians. I am suggesting that so long as Israelis do not find a way to reach out to Palestinians in brotherhood, rather than thinking of them as mindless terrorists, your problems will continue to grow.

If all Palestinians were Hamas, then it would matter what Hamas teaches children. If you want to shut down Hamas, you must start by teaching Palestinian children a different way to understand Israel. There are many hundreds of Palestinians orphans up for adoption. If you are an Israeli, a giant step toward peace is for you to adopt one and raise her to be a Moslem. Because every Moslem with Jewish parents is a more powerful force for peace in Israel than a thousand tanks. Or a million pointed fingers.

Great analogy, Yaakov. Thanks for seeding it. Copies of this should be dropped from the air over the entire Middle East...

Are you talking about the Israelis barging in and taking Palestinian land? or are you talking about about the Israelis barging in 2000 years later and taking Palestinian land?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but judging from your profile picture, I have reason to believe that you are a hacidic Jew. I have never in my life heard a hacidic Jew say "we have to kill our neighbor" Those are some harsh things coming out. If you are, then you should be following the Torah to the tee. According to the Torah, Jews are supposed to be anywhere BUT in Israel.

Really? Sorry, but you are incorrect. think that you need to look at some more pictures of Hasidic Jews.

According to the Torah, Jews are supposed to be anywhere BUT in Israel.

        Um...no, you are 100% wrong.

Would you like me to start quoting from the old testament? As it says that Israel can no longer exist and that its people can prosper around the world but not in the promised land. doesn't matter, you are not Hasidic so you don't follow your own religion to the tee. I have nothing against Jews. Nothing against you or Israel. However, when you speak about "Killing your neighbor" I cant help myself but to compare you the the Germans who almost wiped your people out. Its disgusting.

Perhaps you don't understand how Newsvine works, Antech.  Yaakov is not talking about killing his neighbour, he seeded an article which felt the rest might find interesting.  The author of the article is someone called Leon de Winter, not Yaakov.

As it says that Israel can no longer exist and that its people can prosper around the world but not in the promised land

Source please? (There are a couple of places where it says that if the Jewish people sin, then they will be sent into exile - see the destruction of the two temples. However, it also says dozens if not hundreds of times that the proper place for observance of commandments is in the Land of Israel.)

you are not Hasidic so you don't follow your own religion to the tee

Oh really? So only Hasidic Jews properly follow Judaism?

You have made it abundantly clear apparent that you do not know much about the Jewish faith or its adherents.

when you speak about "Killing your neighbor" I cant help myself

See the comment from dungbeetlemania. And it is an analogy. Please try to understand what the analogy attempts to protray about the situation in Israel.

Perhaps the original seed was intended as an analogy to the Middle East however I agree with DeMilo and feel that it applies to many situations not just wars.

As I read this with blinders on I saw parallels to politics in the US.

I think that the article itself could be viewed differently by both sides. I just want everyone here to understand that there is no quick or easy solution to this. In fact, I don't see any solution at all.  Most here in America don't see BOTH sides of this conflict. the media controls allot of what comes in and although I don't takes sides, I am smart enough to know that our country has been affected because we HAVE $$$$$ taken sides.  Imagine living in your house and someone barging in and saying. Hello, you don't know me but I used to own this property long before you were born. From now on you are not allowed any were in this house. I will only give you the bedroom closet. You shall pee in there, work in there and sleep in there. I shall control any food, electricity, and amenities that go in and come out of their, and I shall have the right to go in there and beat your children at will....

I have seen Israel soldiers BEAT five year old Palestinians by cracking their sculls open with 30 pound stones FOR NO REASON. I have also seen Palestinians go in a shop and blow themselves up killing 30, 40, 50 and sometimes even more civilians.  I don't take sides, our country has.  But guess what I have to wake up, go to work and STILL smell death every time I walk pass the wall trade center. THAT'S what I care about. I don't care anymore about Israel, I don't care if they decide to nuke everyone around them, I don't care if they wipe each other off the map. Neither should America.  I no longer get fed by either sides bull@!$%#. they will always be killing each other. Its their destiny. Lets let them.....
