The blockade of Gaza.  Is it legal?

Simply put; yes.  Actually, in technical/legal terms, it is not a blockade per se since although Israel handed over all of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority in 2005, we retained control of the airspace and borders (including both land and sea borders).  [Note: This, not incidentally, is one of the reasons that our claims of no longer occupying Gaza are relatively weak.]  But if we never relinquished control of the borders and airspace, is it legally a blockade?  Not really. The result is the same (at least as far as Hamas is concerned), but blockading our own coast is not the same as if we were blockading another sovereign state.

While there are many countries around the world who do not support the so-called blockade of Gaza, few except NGOs and 'interested parties' use the term 'illegal' to describe it.

b)  Is Israel alone in the 'blockade' of Gaza?

No.  While Israel controls the borders of Gaza, Egypt also controls its borders with Gaza and is a full participant in controlling the movement of goods and people in and out of Gaza.  It doesn't get much press, but Egypt is actually much more violent in the control of its borders with Gaza; shooting dozens of refugees from Africa trying to enter Israel and Gaza... and using lethal force against Palestinians trying to enter Sinai.

An interesting point!

control of the borders and airspace

Israel can't let Hamas have free borders since they will turn it to the worlds first official terror country.

I hate to be a pessimist but if the Palestinians will get a country, it will be count down until they will go into war with Israel. At least it will be a legit war... (not that anyone cares about legit or not).

It is so unfair to Israel that Egypt gets away with their negative actions, while Israel is under a magnifying glass constantly!???

The media/World needs to wake up and stop hating Israel!!! They are a small country surrounded by hungry, hateful and deadly wolves!!!!!

Israel has to remain strong and on constant alert, they have to remain strong in everyway to defend themselves no matter what this world thinks of them!!

G-d Bless Israel!!!!

To USA 4 Him

Israel is surrounded by enemies by choice. It was their choice to establish their nation on Islamic lands.

"on Islamic lands" you mean British lands... since that's what Israel was before it was declared.

The Brits Stole it from the demise of the Ottoman Empire in 1917 under the Palestine Mandate, and had it so called llegitimised by the League of Nations in 1921 - along with the creation of Transjorden

Neither activities ever got anywhere near resolving sovereignty - unfortunately - the world has ducked that one for a Century. I furvently hope the two-state solution is eventually adopted by all as a workable compromise, because this mess cant go on forever.

Stole? The Ottoman Empire fall apart. British conquered about half of the world without a problem. They also gave a country to some of the Palestine its called Jordan.

The West Bank belonged to Jordan, but trust me no one wants them back. Like Gaza belong to Egypt and they don't want anything to do with them now.

two-state solution can't happen under Hamas ruling since the way from there to WW3 is very short.
